Below, we will look at weekend getaways and vacation spots for you and your family to enjoy in the Midwest.

1. Big Cedar Lodge

Consider Big Cedar Lodge resort in your Midwest family vacation planning. It is owned by Johnny Morris, who is the founder of Bass Pro Shops. This one-of-a-kind lodge with its outdoor theme is 60,000 acres of “family-friendly” and “laid-back vacation” fun rolled into one. The lodge is situated at Table Rock Lake.

As it is owned by Johnny Morris, you can bet the fishing is going to be excellent. The resort offers around 100 boat slips and matching décor. The resort is located 30 minutes away from Morris’ first bait shop. Don’t worry if fishing isn’t your thing; the huge property has a collection of outdoor activities, such as horseback riding, kayaking, hiking, water skiing and even clay shooting.

The resort is also family-friendly with its Kid’s adventure club and even has a go-kart track for the whole family to enjoy.
